Easy to Fold
It should be easy to unfold and fold the car seat, no matter if you're storing it inside your trunk, or in a closet. The most effective combinations we've tested come with simple, one-handed fold that's compact and sturdy enough to use for long walks. They're also easy to maneuver and glide smoothly over uneven surfaces. Certain combos are only attached and detached by straps. This may be a bit like a second step and make it difficult for parents to secure their car seat properly.
We are awestruck by the BOB Revolution Flex 3.0 Combo due to its practical features and sturdy construction which include a large storage basket that's accessible from front to back. Both the Baby Jogger City Mini GT 2 Combo, and the Thule Urban Glide 2 scored very well in our ease of use tests. Both have a single wheel that is easy to push with one hand. Both have one front wheel that is easy to push (one-handed!). They also have a movable spinner wheel, ideal for running errands and shopping. The only drawback is that they're quite heavy and may be difficult to lift up when a baby is in car seats.
Easy to Assemble
Some stroller and car seat combinations can be difficult to put together. We discovered that the UPPAbaby Cruz v2 Combo was one of the easiest to build, and it comes with a handy quick-start guide that makes putting this travel system together an easy task. Other models we tested such as the UPPAbaby Minu, UPPAbaby Vista v2, Thule Urban Glide 2 and Baby Trend Snap-N-Go EX Universal were also relatively easy to put together. However, the BOB Revolution Flex 3.0 Combo is difficult to put together as it requires two steps to assemble - connecting the lower anchors and using straps that go over the bottom portion of the carrier. It's heavy, so it takes two people to secure the carrier into the base, and then detach it.
In our tests, it took about 5 minutes to put together the UPPAbaby Cruz. This is a relatively quick procedure when you consider the time saved by not having to remove all the pieces. The toddler seat can be attached and removed easily on the majority of these models.
